I MUST have a part in the Voorwerp-story...
More seriously, it seems to me that the one I found has a very similar blue color to the original voorwerp: http://cas.sdss.org/astro/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=587732053235794976
I know, it does look like a star, but if you look closely enough (obviously on a larger image), somewhere to the W/S direction, there are other faint blue blobs. Just to be sure, I checked - there really is some other blue stuff around, of the random points there was one with an RGB of 3/0/23 - that's a faint blue to me. Perhaps it's something that was mentioned in the original discussion, but wasn't proven to be it, or there may be more than one voorwerp.
I've been checking stuff about it for about half an hour now, so please just consider my finding :P

Oh ****... I was so obsessed with the blue part that I TOTALLY missed out on the green-red thingy next to it... To make matters worse for myself, I already found an asteroid, and I immediately recognised it. Why I fell dumb on this one - I don't know...
So excuse me, but I must rethink my life :P

I try not to... But still it pierces my ego when I don't recognise something I've recognised before, especially for no particular reason :)

And is ObjId = 587735043620208788 a Voorwerp as well?  It's too far away to really see it clearly, but it looks similar.

Here is a picture of object 587735043620208788

The colour is different but it is an odd shape.

And here's the link ;) thanks for the pic Geoff! I'm not sure either it's similar to the Hanny's Voorwerp, but it sure looks strange enough to post! ;)

Hey guys, after reading the blog entries about this I too noticed something similar.

http://cas.sdss.org/astro/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=587724648727707762

Same colours and appearance to the base galaxy, very similar orientation with the blue clump, though not as vibrant or obvious. Doesn't have a spectrum attached to the clump. I would've thought it a dispersed orbiting partner that's spawned a lot of big new stars, but the base galaxy seems out of proportion to the amount of blue below it, so if someone can get a spectrum, it could be something similar.

I don't think it's similar to be honest, but don't let that stop you, 'cause I'm not an expert! ;) Welcome to the zoo! :)

Only a little blue dangly thing. Can't get any info on it. Probably background irregular. Not posted before.

Its a similar colour, and its near a galaxy, though this time its a elliptical... if we assume the voorwerp is made hot by a nearby galaxy, then it might be one...

Hi Aether

I thought this looked like a star at first and Navigator says so too but when I clicked on Explore to see the SDSS page it has TARGET_QSO_FAINT as the PrimTarget.

I will let someone else have a go  ;)

Found an irregular blue galaxy in proximity to a spiral and thought someone other than myself might find it interesting. It reminded me of the voorwerp a little, but I'll let you guys be the judge.
