There is no merger here it is a faint (small) elliptical or dwarf galaxy.  There is no disruption, only one core seen - definitely not a merger.
Ah, very good. Thanks!

There seem to be some distortion here, but ‘Navigate' say the lowest ‘core’ is a star. That's somewhat disturbing for me ;-) Is it possible that SDSS sees this 'core' by accident as a star? Anybody knows?

Anyway, I think it's a pitty that there are rather a lot of nice mergers with stars in it.

SDSS Navigate does not always get it right.  Its only with a spectra can you or it be more reliable.  I have seen it call a star a galaxy and vice-versa.  Use your best judgment.

Hi Waveney,
I wish I could interpret something of spectra(although I learned a very little bit about it from NGC 3314 in 'Tuteral bits of galaxy spectra', which was very interestinghttp://www.galaxyzooforum.org/index.php?topic=1923.0)and there isn't one for the star-like thing in this galaxy. I will use my best judgement. Thanks for the reply.

Looks like the light from a star doing something funny . . . what's the reference number? Zooming out might show us what's happened.

Wow . . .

Here's a zoomed-out view:

I think it's a streak of light from a nearby star. These ones do look odd though!

Hmmmmmmmm. Ring? Elliptical merging with or overlapping with irregular? Lensing? Merging or not? I really haven't a clue with this one, and, astonishingly, it hasn't been posted yet!
