I find it od that in features there is a pictogram of a ringed galaxy but when you have a ring and you click it you dont get asked anithing about the ring but have to click is there something strange.

One thing I would like to see is alot of galaxies I have come across has multiple irregularities, like A ring galaxy that also has a disturbance and other galaxies around it, but we must choose between which we would classify, I think it would be a good Idea to make this section a multiple entry area that we would be able to check off each that we notice, that way it would be easier for the final catalogue of these items would be more complete.

Also, Since there seems to be a lot more Ring galaxies that the Zoo is finding to place this as a major selector example; placing a section in the Spiral for Elliptical and Ring Galaxies rather than having Spiral or no Spiral.

Sometimes I myself, and maybe others, find it hard to rate the Spiral, cause I have come across more than a few that has more then one ring and it looks similar to a spiral but not being one. This would also make it easier on the final Catalogue.

Those two would probably take money, but in the long run it would make it easier for us Amatures to catalogue the type of galaxy, because like I said earlier some galaxies just have more then one special feature on it.

Also in the Galaxy Wars Sometimes when asking which spirals are more prominent the "opponet" is an Elliptical that has no spiral to it. I realize it grabs random pics, but I think it is a little to random.

At the risk of being labelled Mr Grumpy, I wonder when the forum merging messages are coming off the front page. Surely the issue is a transient admin matter, important to members, yes,  but largey historical now and not as important as giving newbies a clean, motivating and exciting introduction to the Zoo project.  At the moment the motivational message comes second to a bright orange blurb about something no newcomer will have the faintest interest in.  Neither does it really now qualify for the Latest News ticker on the front page.  Just a humble thought...

This bugs me: "Which has the most prominent spiral arms?"

There are only two objects, so why not ask "Which has the more prominent spiral arms?"?!?!?

Ditto bar, etc.

Also, I have just been presented with two identical images - a bug? or a feature (to keep us on our toes)?

Far be from me to argue with you over grammar (since I'm not involved in the programming :D ;D), but the identical galaxies for Galaxy Wars was an oversight. Not a bug - it won't produce any problems; just click whichever you like - but not deliberate either. ;D

Re Galaxy Wars
Don't bother showing me an edge-on spiral and asking me which has the most prominent bar or arms.  An edge-on isn't itself a bar, and no evidence of a bar will be seen, nor will it's arms be identifiable.  It'll lose the "war" every time with me.  8)

Is it just me or are other members suffering with classifying getting 'hung up' on the end phase?

Not sure where to post this, but seems a likely location...

Has anyone else been getting intermittent foreign language screens?  It'll be in English, I'll click on something (very often it seems to be the Is The Anything Interesting" button) and suddenly I have what appears to be Polish.  Sometimes it switches back, sometimes it doesn't.  Truth be told, I know the screens and buttons well enough that I can still work even when it's in Polish, but it can be a little disconcerting.

Hello Alice!

Hope you are having a great day!

A question:  Do you know if the Galaxy poster (M51 or maybe M74??) containing the names of the Zooites who helped classify in Zoo1 and Zoo2, is available for purchase anywhere?  I am very proud of my participation such as it is, and would like to have a copy of this to hang on the wall.

Please advise, if you know, and thanks very much!

Hi Rod, that poster is wonderful isn't it? The Galaxy Zoo Shop is at http://www.cafepress.co.uk/zooniverse and it should probably be in the "Galaxy Zoo" category - admittedly, I couldn't find it in there myself, but that may be something to do with it being 1.20 a.m. while I answer your question. If nobody can see it, let's ask the zookeepers as I don't know myself! ;D

Alice,

Thank you for responding, especially at 1:20am when even the birds are asleep!   The reason I asked is that I couldn't find the poster at Cafe Press either.

I'll ask a Zookeeper per your suggestion.

Have a grand day!

I suggest the search algorithm be modified to prioritize titles of threads.  When I search for the Pure Art Thread (which I do often) I can never find it easily and have to go to the Stunning Sights Index thread at http://www.galaxyzooforum.org/index.php?topic=270813.msg145901#msg145901

It would be easier to find a thread one is looking for if the search results would put thread titles ahead of other uses of the search terms.  I don't know how easy it would be to make this change but it would save us a lot of time.

My 2 cents...

You could set the option: "Search in topic headings only" which may make the results more relevant.
