Mystery Get-Together in Greenwich, Sunday 16th August
« on: July 03, 2009, 10:57:13 am »
First Notice 3rd July (I expect many updates to follow!): As a lot of you know, those zookeepers just *love* teasing us. Chris dangled the prospect of 16th August under our noses at our last wonderful meet-up, and after quite a lot of questions and PMs, this is what we know so far:

On Sunday 16th August, there will be a get-together at Greenwich, which includes the park where we have the RAS picnics and the Royal Observatory. We are given to understand that this one will be very special. Not only are they putting on "a customised planetarium show", but several zookeepers will be attending, including Bill! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

That's all I know so far. I don't know what time it will start and finish, or where we should be when. Let's assume we'll be meeting in the late morning and go for a coffee if we're hanging around. There's lots to see at the Observatory and around the park.

I hope to see lots and lots of you there. More details to follow!

A chance to answer such burning questions as, "How may Zooites can dance on a prime meridian"? Or at least fit in a single photo of it...

Rick Nowell

I was informed (and invited) at the recent shindig in Oxford that someone was holding a party for us- GZ. More than that I don't
know, as I'd had a surfeit of G&Ts. I look forward to it, what ever form it takes.

You will be able to recognize him as the big guy who speaks with a foreign accent (which only gets worse going to Dutch, German, and Russian). Time for some language review: After finding the way out from the tube station, specially in the centre near the City, one should always look right and watch especially for lorries before stepping off the pavement, and be sure to mind the kerb.

No, I'll still sound like a clueless tourist; might as well just deal with it...

Zooites doing the conga on the meridian line.

Then I think it would be a good idea for us to chip in and get you a new one.
Without biltong at a meet, would be sacrilege.

Pity I can't bring along garlic bread and Italian food . . . at least, unless you'd like to eat it all cold and messily :D
