Just a quick note to say thanks for all of your help, and suggestions - and of course the final, amazing image. Yesterday was the third busiest day since the launch of Zoo 2, so you all made a huge difference...

This site produces a unique synergy, not a dysergy, that seems to transcend any challenges put before it. Only the
third busiest day- perhaps the picture lacked something...

The picture was perfect.

Thankyou Elizabeth. Technically it was less than perfect (talking about my bit) though. I put it together using my
laptop which is nice and all that, but then the other day I saw it for the first time on an Imac with a beautiful
big screen and high resolution. With a bit of zooming one could easily begin to see the grid and the different
frames- this was using the NASA picture, which I think had had some processing done to it; inevitably I suppose.

To repeat old history, to make a useable image to print etc. would need a rebuild of the original image I believe,
as well as conversion from SDSS's RGB to CMYK colours. It would also need the permission of SDSS as far as copy-
right goes. When I did try to make a useable print at the printers 18 mths ago using a .tiff file (7mb), the image
came up very red and with not good resolution. It was disappointing- it would be nice to have a picture on the wall,
or a mug with 'Mergers' on it (not a name I thought of). Such is life- it would need a great deal of time to get a
useable image from someone who knows what they are doing and has experience.

Unless there is anyone on the Forum with the required skills, time and generosity?

I have just received a DVD from NASA (!) with Stellar and mine's APOD on it. It is an education
DVD and has lots and lots of other interesting things on it. We got it a bit late due to some
volcano or other, but it sure is nice to have that picture on hard copy. Cool or what?!!!!

The DVD is free and available at this address, but only to people in the States.
Thanks to all concerned:
