« on: January 13, 2010, 07:25:46 pm »
Simon Singh posted this very sweet short story on Twitter - a romantic mathematical tale.

Post your favourite little stories here too! :) :) :)

Another adorable story: an article by Marcus Chown on science writing, including the fact that science books can change lives. (One did mine! ;D) Marcus Chown was lucky enough to be taught by Richard Feynman - but when he hoped that Feynman would help him get his mum into science, things didn't quite go as planned . . .

Hmmmm - this seems to be a very dusty library book in perfect condition, meaning it's never read (isn't it funny when you see an advert along the lines of "Student textbook. Never used"?). But it seemed the best place to post this story . . . a library near Milton Keynes, UK, is threatened with closure - and local residents borrowed all 16,000 books in protest!

Fantastic! :) ;D (lovely thread Alice)

Edit - forgot to say.. The loss of a small library is a tragic loss for any community.
