Searched, couldn't find it on here yet; It's very irregular...http://cas.sdss.org/stripe82/en/tools/quicklook/quickobj.asp?id=8647474691943367149http://cas.sdss.org/stripe82/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=8647474691943367149
Is this a merger? it looks like part of the lower arm of the barred spiral is being pulled toward the eliptical galaxy? Or maybe is just overlap ?http://www.galaxyzoo.org/examine/AHZ500052chttp://cas.sdss.org/dr7/en/tools/quicklook/quickobj.asp?id=587731187279855688ID: AHZ500052c

NGC 0078 and NGC 0078BYou are talking about 3 galaxies, I see only 2 Tell me more And me. I'm intrigued NED says 3 NGC 0078 G pair, consisting of NGC 0078A and NGC 0078B. That was my first thought, but sometimes we see that NGC name some close galaxies XXXX and XXXXA (and not necessary XXXXA and XXXXB)... I.e. the way to give the number in this catalog is sometimes surprising..

Quote from: marjieN on August 18, 2010, 10:17:37 AMI just got this image. The main barred spiral has a red shift z=13.01. The other eliptical has red shift z=12.79I went for "merger'that z is something to do with luminosity not redshift. the redshift is the z found in the little table under the image and is usually less than 1 for sdss galaxies. it will only be present if there is a spectra for the galaxy. z=0.017 is the one u want
