ATLAS OF PECULIAR GALAXIES, Halton Arp (1996) - as far as I can tell, most of the merger targets are peculiar galaxies (per Arp's definition), and appear in his atlas.
It's quite a treat to skim this atlas; the images were taken by different telescopes (though mostly the Palomar 200"), under different conditions (though seeing was mostly good to very good), using different filters, and photographic plates ... in this the Atlas is quite unlike SDSS, where great effort was made to standardize everything.
