Thursday 25th November 2010: Pick a galaxy . . . VOTE NOW

Dear all,

Today's Object of the Day is not an object, but a request for some. Zookeeper Rob is looking for an "Object of the Day" for a Zoo Advent Calendar, which should be interesting (open up this pocket of space and - oops, a black hole! :D). Want to help?

From now until Monday, please post your favourite galaxy, either from Hubble Zoo or from SDSS. On Monday we will have a poll, closing on Tuesday night.

Please don't post millions of galaxies as it will take me ages to write the poll - I suggest a maximum of three per person! :D

Here are mine:

587728879266299939

587729388225363990

. . . and, of course:

587726033843585149 - well, what did you expect? :D

What are yours?

The Zooniverse advent calendar will be a lot of fun - and will contain some big surprises we hope!

Here's my favourite galaxy for consideration, a lovely Hubble treat: http://www.galaxyzoo.org/examine/AHZ10000wa

I'll skip my most obvious selection, but these might be worth looking at:

UGC 7342 = SDSS 587739719750058064

UGC 4008 = SDSS 587737809030152231

IC 720 = SDSS 587732769978777642
