Fellow Zooniverse fanatics:
I am working with the Duke University Center for Science Education to compile metrics on citizen science projects' educational impact.
I understand that the focus of Zooniverse needs to be first and foremost on furthering your astronomy research, but I am interested in any compiled statistics that might be used to elucidate the project's impact on your volunteers (increasing success rate over time in the activities, for instance?)
Also, have any teachers tracked how this project meets national education requirements (and in America's case, state requirements, which are equally important)? Have there been any formal assessments on whether this project is helping volunteers learn or comprehend science more effectively?
Thank you very much for your help!
