Add another initial identification option
« on: March 10, 2012, 09:55:19 am »
It would be helpful to have the option to identify an object as probably being a planet, but the object is too obscure to classify, something that is clearly not a star or an artifact.

Hello Savatage and welcome to the Zoo.  Planets is something we don't see here on the SDSS or Hubble images.  The Solar System planets would fry with their light the sensors of the telescopes and the exoplanets are too far away to be able to see them.  For example we can see the galaxies but can't see the individual stars, not enough definition for that.
Happy hunting  :D

Need another identification option or two: Object is at the limit of resolution, object is beyond the limit of resolution.  Some of the objects are most likely to be galaxys but are so pixelated that no further information is available.  This would tag those objects for longer exposure in the future if someone cared.
