« on: February 21, 2013, 08:55:07 am »
If anyone is aware of an SDSS image of an NGC object that includes a supernova, please let me know about it, so I can post it in the NGC catalog LIST thread, thanks.

One Q&D way: hosts of some guest stars - which of these galaxies are NGC objects?

More generally, NGC objects in Stripe 82 are (far) more likely to have been imaged, by SDSS, with a supernova (if indeed any had a supernova visible at the time). Finding which of the (many) Stripe 82 images of a particular NGC galaxy - in which there was a supernova at the time - may contain the supernova may not be so easy ...

List of NGC and IC galaxies that have produced supernovae with images (click on image index).

Try this also.

You can also search sncat using SDSS and SDSS II....the galaxy designations are usually PGC or SDSS (not NGC).
