Some citizen science is urgently needed here to help find the missing plane.

I found a small object in the map, but dismissed it as a boat.

Now I wonder how a boat could be 10 feet across, and wish I hadn't clicked "go to random map"...
I like to find asteroids and galaxy mergers- but all galaxies are still fine to me.

I belong to http://www.rspsoc.org.uk/ and asked them yesterday, about RS satellites, which I'm sure operate in the general area.

Could really do with a zoom feature - something 10 feet across would just be few pixels. I've seen a few isolated examples and dismissed them too.  :-\

Really - oh dear. I was rather hoping to find nothing but any help to find the missing plane and help the relatives has to be worth it. Disasters like this are truly awful but I think that the citizen science approach can really help.

Well I'm not sure it's wreckage, I just see several white, irregular objects (not clouds, durr) that all appear to be facing the same direction. It could be a group of boats on a rescue mission, plane debris, or something completely unrelated. It's hard to tell from up here.  :P

JohnF:
It's spread around several different maps, but here are a few:
24428
22343
23440
23972
23166

P.S. I also found an airplane trail or something traveling vertically across the map:
it's also obvious over clouds and just below the last link is another piece of wreckage.

China releases satellite images of objects in the sea, near the flight path.

Images taken on the 9th March.

Got a link for that John?

I'm afraid not, but the images were the first item on BBC News 24 (8pm) (Freeview Ch.80)- should be repeated at 9pm.  (To my untrained eye, the shape looks like an aircraft, but I doubt it.)  (I once worked on the search software for Search & Rescue helicopters.)

Current watching special Sky News programme, on Freeview Ch.82.
