um. Is this one on your List?
http://cas.sdss.org/astro/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=588015509823619245

:) No it's not. But see for your self.

If you want a specific "OIII" thread, then I suggest that you start one !

Your are right (see above). And just as a note: Attachments are listed at the end of a post as a link you have to left click on.

I've been made redundant  by an all gory ithm? Sounds like I'm a dead peahunter. Wah! :'(

Probably not. ElisabethB posted recently 6 objects that were not on the list. There are 884054 objects with spectra in the database. I have no idea how many of them are OIII. We could guess the number by counting the number of your analysed objects and how many of them are OIII.
Pretty clever though Laihro if you have done that. I think you may have done better than the Asian uni students that based their paper on a mere 178 wolf raynet type objects.

No idea what you are talking about.
So now you have your pot of peas what are you going to do with them?

All I can do is share them with you. I'm only a IT professional with no clue about astronomy or physics. From his previous posts I can see that FermatsBrother has some clue in this field and is also familiar with SQL. So maybe we can start over and he and all the others can prevent my effort from being wasted.
IMHO. And I don't have a clue ...

Hi laihro - Can you explain what this means for me please ?
Fermats Brother
A spectrum, many spectra. A Supernova, many supernovae. A datum, many data. A nebula, many nebulae. SATELLITE.

Hi all,

I've published the SQL query that I used for the creation of the list here. I would also like to advertise the ongoing challenge of guessing the number of undiscovered OIII objects. Have some fun!  :)

For the pea hunters, here's a picture of one in close up (with acknowledgements to NASA):
It's  "Cat's Eye Hubble Remix" an image from APOD on 22MAR2008.
Blue & green indicates radiation from OIII.
(Can't display it here because of copyright restrictions, but I recommend that you go, look)

That's truly a weird one Elisabeth and it's on the list. But 587735666389745796, 587741602562113758 and 587726015078596000 are not. :)
It's really sad that FermatsBrother had to remove that gorgeous image. Does your object have a sdss object id?

I would like to invite everyone, to post their most weird or beautiful OIII object images here. It does not matter if you found them by hand, in the list or whether they where posted before. The aim is to have samples for OIII objects of any color and shape.

By the way, there is a solution for Elisabeth's problems reading the list.

I think you are the first one posting an elliptical OIII galaxy Elisabeth!
Starry Nite wrote some lines about rare sights here. I'm not sure what his statements are based on, but I've searched the pea thread and found no second elliptical recognized as such.

In the meantime I have found some ellipticals myself and also an edge on OIII galaxy.
IMHO. And I don't have a clue ...
