Thanks, Hanny, your good cheer comes across even through typed words.
I hope we can drop this now and get back to posting interesting things!
Just for you, the first smiley face I've posted on this site:  :)

LizPeter, your post from the last page is a pea in one sense, because it does look like one, but it's not an OIII "Pea" galaxy, because the spectral chart doesn't have a big peak at OIII. At its redshift (z=0.1684), an OIII galaxy would most likely appear more green and less yellow, at least as far as I know at this point. There's plenty of room in the soup pot, though!

Here's a brand new pea or perhaps grape....
At z=0.1059, color seems appropriate....

Just posted in the QSRO thread by driller (http://www.galaxyzooforum.org/index.php?topic=3874.msg106412#msg106412), another green pea, though quite gray-tinged. Perhaps that relates to the spectral chart not being as flat as others in its redshift range (z=0.2705). I suppose it could be something different about the AGN or maybe something between the pea and us. I think if it was a quasar at that 'z', the OIII peak would be lower, and the peaks at H-alpha and H-beta taller and wider.

I don't know what to call this one. Bean? Pea pod? It's weird.
I wonder if it being more blue than green is due to the chart not being flat on the left side.
From the QSRO thread by ElisabethB, but I believe the H-peaks are wrong for that.

A dusky pink one with a hint of purple from Markusfix in the QSRO thread:
http://www.galaxyzooforum.org/index.php?topic=3874.msg41181#msg41181
At z=0.4413, color seems right for a pea, and the chart seems wrong for a quasar.
Some odd zig-zags there though.

Now, the exception to the rule that muddies the water: it's got that unusual green color (though not quite emerald), and a matching redshift 'z', but the OIII peak is lower than the OII. Confusing. It does have a big H-alpha peak, so that could be compensating for the color as it's depicted on SDSS. Hey Starry don't you ever sleep? LOL. I have been busy the last couple of days and come back to see heaps of peas.
Seems like you have this pea soup thing down to a fine art.
I heard a good cure for squinty eyes is to take 2 peas in a glass of water and lay down for a couple hours.  :o :D

A possible "Pea" core buried in the center of an irregular galaxy that's quite "nearby" (z=0.0072). SDSS is like the princess who could feel the pea hidden beneath a dozen mattresses. Not confirmable because the chart is cut off and the OII peak isn't shown, though alternately the tags may be misaligned. The only other "Pea" candidate at a similar distance (z=0.0055, http://cas.sdss.org/astro/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=588010877687431223) has the same issue with the spectral chart.

A green pea! Green color on SDSS and a mighty OIII "Pea" peak!
They say it's the little things in life that bring you joy, and this one certainly is that.

A Point and a Tip:
The "Give Peas A Chance" thread is not just for OIII galaxies!
If it looks like a pea and you feel like posting it, peas feel free!

For those who want to find the OIII "Peas", try navigating through SDSS with the "Objects with Spectra" box checked. The red boxes do sometimes change the color of what they highlight as it appears on the screen, but they save time looking at little dots that turn out not to have spectral charts.

And a bit of trivia: Feb. 8th, 8 PM on the American TV channel, the Food Network, is a program called "Good Eats". Tonight's episode: "Give Peas A Chance"!

It's everywhere! On the same night on the Japanese cartoon "Shin Chan", Shin puts a poster up on the wall that says "Give Pea A Chance"! (He's threatening not to urinate until he gets an allowance, but that's not the point....)

I wanted to learn about green stars and why they are green when it's not a camera effect. So I searched the site for "green star". One of the results was this thread: Green Star? by unimatrix: http://www.galaxyzooforum.org/index.php?topic=1565.0
It's a previously uncatalogued green pea! I swear, I was looking for something else! They're following me!

Hey Starry
I'm no expert but make sure you back up your data. I was reading a post which said there was a forum before this forum which is now inaccessible to the general public. It would be a shame if GZ2 were to crash this forum leaving all your lovely peas stuck in the soup.
