Arralen suggested this is a pea, so I'm reposting:

Two galaxy IDs, one with a spectral chart.
ra=243.97970563, dec=42.10682966, ObjId = 587733604802887818(spectra) + 587733604802887819
http://cas.sdss.org/astro/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=587733604802887818

Quote
it's OIII emissions are much stronger than it's OII emissions - it's another one of those pink/purple peas which might look green in SDSS if at z=0.3 instead of z=0.1.

Good news everyone!

Hi Hanny
I don't know what these unusual green blobs are but to me it looks like two peas and a blob of mashed pumpkin. Greenest peas I've ever seen

why don't my links come up as pictures?
(EDIT Have fixed, thanks Hanny).
I'm not sure what the sdss data means but there is a big spike on the 5500 mark :-\

here's a pea that seems to be growing tendrils.  that's what happens if you leave it in the fridge too long:
http://cas.sdss.org/astro/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=587733432456315706
notice the other peas at 4 o'clock and 5 o'clock.  sdss thinks they're stars, but they look like peas to me.

Hi Hanny

Hi ;)

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you mean..

why don't my links come up as pictures?

You need to get the link of the pic, by right clicking it and copy the url that is under 'properties'. That link is what you should put between image tags... there are topics explaining this better, under 'topics to help you find your way around' ;)

I'm not sure what the sdss data means but there is a big spike on the 5500 mark :-\

Don't know either, sorry.. anyone else? :)

No spectral chart, so I can't say it's a pea...AND, it's near a star effect. But still, I don't think that vivid green is just an artifact.

This isn't round and it isn't green, but the chart is flat with an O III spike twice the size of the O II. So "near"-to-us pea?

Hi Hanny
Here is another greenish on the outside type galaxy and it also has a bit of a spike in the 5500 spot on the sdss chart.
Do you think this is a close up of a pea galaxy?
