It was really really interesting for a newbie zooist like moi

I did like the short snappiness and think it's left me hungry for more

Format:
One topic:
3-5 min
10 min max

Q&A:
A "question asker" and a "Answerer"
10-20 min
30 min max

typically shorter is better.

Thanks again!

When describing the "random" movements of the stars in an Elliptical galaxy could you address a typical star's movement? In other words does each star have its own orbit around the galactic core or do they change course periodically? How long would it take for all the stars in an elliptical galaxy to move to a spot whereby all its near neighbors are new? Does this type of event have a name like the Hubble Distance? Ought it have a name? OH, I know, could you also share maybe the top 5 questions scientists have yet to answer about ellipticals? I can tell that this would be open to speculation on your part, so maybe make it like Chris and Kevin's top 5 questions left unanswered. Or if you wanted to include all zoo scientist you could call it the "Zoo's top 5."

So by the questions I posted here you can tell I really enjoyed the pod cast. Keep up the awesome science work you are doing. Keep dreaming up more stuff to ask and do.  Thanks about asking for our imput.

Fantastic, those podcasts, very informative. Thank you Kevin and Chris. Galaxy Zoo was the first site I went to after coming back from a holiday and I was this. Such a nice surprise!

Excellent - good introductory content but too short! Twice the length would be about right for me - with maybe some shorter ones as well. It would be good if you could do one explaining spectra but I'm guessing this would be a tall order for a podcast! Also good topics might include:
  • a summary of some of the GZ findings so far
  • an item on some of the non-galaxy finds that have turned up - quasars, planetary nebulae, globular clusters - as this would be good for background astronomy
  • something on the life cycle of a star - why young stars appear blue, yellow stars appear old, the effect of novae adding elements to the interstellar medium etc and starting the process over again.
  • I would also find useful one one different galaxy types - not just spiral v elliptical but Seyfert galaxies, AGNs, peculiar galaxies, dwarf and irregular galaxies - terms which appear on the forum but which will be new to many.

Thanks for taking the time to produce the first one - much appreciated  :D :D

I'd love to subscribe to this podcast (rather than listening in the browser) - so that I can listen to it on my iPod.
Is there a / what is the URL for subscribing?
I tried:
http://www.galaxyzoo.org/Podcasts.aspx

and it just didn't load any... so I'm guessing that isn't it.

I've got just one minor complaint; The source volume's too low... I've maxed-out all the sliders that I could get my hands on (the player as well as the os) and still it just barely fails to reach a level that is comfortable to listen to on my laptop speakers.. the dark-matter lecture even more so.  Everything else is way, way too loud now so I'm figuring it must be the recording and not any particularity in my local setup...

But then again, perhaps I'm the only one experiencing this?

It would be good if you could upload these podcasts to itunes. Easier for me to listen to and it would increase galaxyzoo's exposure.

Hi all, I tried several links in the thread above, but unfortunately I can't get any podcast (http://www.galaxyzoo.org/Podcasts.aspx and so on)... The error message I get on much of the links is

The page you were looking for doesn't exist.
You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved.

Could you please highlight a valid URL ? Many thanks !
