Blue elliptical?

Can anyone tell me if it's a blue elliptical galaxy, or an ordinary spiral? I can't see any structure.

This one is the best I saw. But here you have one orange spiral

I think so. That's how I'd class it.

:)

So a blue elliptical would be an elliptical with a young stellar population...?

To me, it's an eliptical galaxy that looks blue, but that's because I'm a forum rat and not an astronomer. I remember reading.......somewhere.......that Zookeeper Kevin said finding star formation in elipticals was one of the survey goals. And I'm certain I saw a post of his saying he was writing his thesis on the same.

So I'm rooting for 'em. And him.

If that's the case, I'll keep an eye out. I've spotted a few of them...

And what's really weird about it is that it's given me a charge looking for elips. I mean, a photo of of one of those incredibly beautiful spirals floors everybody. And personally, I'm a barred spiral kinda guy (look @ my avatar)-- nothing in all of space shouts "galaxy" at me quite as loud as a barred. They're just stunning to me.

But now-- I'm watching them elips like a mother hen with one chick! I'm gonna find one...

What about this one?

I'm having a hard time with this one. If the horizontal blue streak is an imaging artifact, then maybe. Looks to me like it's probably an irregular, though. I'd click don't know, both because it might be an irreg and because I really don't know.

I understand that blue ellipticals are rare. But then again:

There might bee ten candidates on this picture alone.

They all look like stars and are marked as stars in the navigation mode.
