I've submitted Rick's mergers. Fingers crossed!

Oh let me just a moment stay
where time is not and angels play the paeans of the galaxies;
then speed the stardust on its flight
to change dread darkness into light, cold chaos into ecstasy!

Now we will be walking around with our fingers crossed for however long it takes. This means that we now have to classify galaxies with our middle fingers, and post pictures with our first fingers. Get used to it, folks. It's quite uncomfortable.  ;D :D ;) :)

When I can't sleep, I think up Galaxy Zoo phrases to write in galaxies. Most of them are too long, but I thought some of you might appreciate the following:

"Welcome to the Zoo. Warning: These Galaxies Bite."

"Welcome to the Zoo. Please do not feed the galaxies. If you have any suitable food, please give it to the zookeeper on duty."

"Welcome to the Zoo. Please do not feed the galaxies - just classify them."

And we should certainly have some galactic faces in the message too, in my opinion.

What is the sort of timespan we can expect before we hear back from them about Rick's mergers?

Do you reckon it's still got a chance of being selected?

Well considering that a lot of pictures are 'this is what we saw last night', there's going to have to be a particularly slow day in the cosmos before our lovely alphabet gets chosen.  Therefore, we must get more coverage for the alphabet to make it to be selected by popular demand.

Rick's merger wallpaper, I mean, not the alphabet. Although a message in a galactic alphabet would also make another great APOD, I agree . . .

See, it's been so long I had actually forgotten we chose Rick's idea!  Oops... It's the same argument though, swap 'alphabet' for 'wallpaper' ;D

I don't know why either. How embarrassing that back then I didn't realise the Whirlpool Galaxy was already well known :D :D :D
